Feb 23, 2010 · "The Informant!" most definitely falls into that latter category, despite a marketing campaign overselling the film as a broad comedy and associating it with the Ocean's films. As a result, I distinctly recall many people actually falling asleep in the theater during the movie's theatrical run. They were likely not prepared for the end result.

Left in the hands of a lesser talent, the ingredients in The Informant! could have produced a disaster, but with Steven Soderbergh at the helm the movie's tricky recipe produces a memorable five-star dinner; an experience you'll want to revisit as soon as the last morsel is washed away by a tall glass of water.
“The Informant!” is fascinating in the way it reveals two levels of events, not always visible to each other or to the audience. A second viewing would be rewarding, knowing what we find out. Matt Damon's performance is deceptively bland.
