Plot. Chima is a pristine realm filled with tribes consisting of various anthropomorphic animals. It is later revealed to be one of the 16 Realms near the realm of Ninjago. As told in the great stories by Fluminox and Lagravis, Chima used to be inhabited by incipient, ordinary animals until the mysterious elemental Chi evolved them.
Each of the tribes have their own "great story" concerning Chima's creation. Season three reveals that none are these are true, and that it was the Phoenix Tribe who helped create their land. The Dark Tribes attribute their ascension to a Great Spider or Scorpion (depending on the tribe) in the sky giving the CHI to them.
