     Expressiveness.

     That is, it makes it easy to express the design and ideas and does not require technical workarounds to make a design work.

     It gets the job done. I think it's good to be familiar with more than one language. As much as I enjoy C# I don't think it is the best at everything. So for me I just look at the task at hand and what are some of the requirements and then try to choose a language that best matches.

     1) Strong typing and features that support it.

     C#/Java v1.0 were strongly typed languages, but sometimes you had to break static typing because there was simply not enough expressiveness to do some stuff and have it statically typed (i.e. you needed casts, when pulling objects from an untyped collection for example).

     Generics of course improve the situation a lot and things get even merrier in languages that support higher order generics (like Scala).

     2) Conciseness. If it's obvious, I shouldn't need to write it. Type inference is a great tool for this.

     3) A great library. If it's often needed, I shouldn't need to write it.

     Say you have two applications that run on two different physical machines. Both of the applications need to exchange data that is commonly used by both applications. These application talk to each other to share the data with some mediums, these mediums could be a file-system, tcp or udp connections or any other suitable network protocol or may be direct in-memory data exchange. Any of these mediums would only understand data that is described in the form of a series of bits. So when one application needs to send a value 10 to another, the value 10 would be sent as its binary representation 1010 and you would also pass some information that describes 1010. This meta information will also be a series of bits that the other application can easily understand. That was easy though.

     Lets take another example, wherein these two apps need to exchange a more complex, non primitive data-type. Lets say they need to exchange the objects of type Book where Book is a custom defined class in your application and both the applications have the definition of type Book.

     public class Book{ Book() { }- public long BookId { get;set; } public string Author { get;set; } public string Title { get;set; }}-

     How will you exchange the objects of type book between the two applications? To be able to share the object between two apps, you will need to be able to convert the Book objects into binary representation. This is where serialization comes into the picture.

     With the help of Serialization you can define how an object can be converted into its binary representation. The receiving application would do the reverse process, that is De-Serialization, that constructs a Book object from its binary representation.

     In this case you can replace the word construct with syntax.

     does the word 'construct' have an relation to an object 'constructor' in other languages?

     No. These two terms are different. There is nothing like constructor in C

     Usually, coding standards for a particular project or program have rules about which comment style to use when; a common convention is to use block comments (/* */) for method and class documentation, and inline comments (//) for remarks inside method bodies and such, e.g.:

     According to Wikipedia, the common IEEE 754 representation of floating point with 32 bits has a precision of about 7 decimal digits. So 6 looks like a reasonable value.

     You need double precision (64 bits) to get about 16 decimal digits.
