Oxford was ranked first in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 - a record eight consecutive years. There are more than 26,000 students at Oxford, including 12,470 undergraduates and 13,920 postgraduates.
Students by nationality. International students make up 47% of Oxford students. 67% of all graduate students are from outside the UK, as are 23% of all undergraduates. Students by country. Over 170 countries and territories are represented among the Oxford student body. The largest groups of international students are those from: China - 2,035.
To be a member of the university, all students, and most academic staff, must also be a member of a college or hall. There are thirty-nine colleges of the University of Oxford and four permanent private halls (PPHs), each controlling its membership and with its own internal structure and activities. [16]
