The Morton Grove Public Library was dedicated and opened in its permanent facility on February 3, 1952. The new building had 1,500 square feet (140 m 2 ) of floor space and housed a collection of over 4,000 books.

The Morton Grove Public Library is situated between the larger communities of Skokie and Niles, Illinois and located 25 minutes away from the north side of Chicago. The community itself is mostly residential with a few businesses, and is economically and culturally diverse.
Morton Grove Public Library's building of 31,000 square feet houses more than 136,000 items, ranging from current best-sellers to the latest in audiobooks and DVDs, popular computer, history and medicine titles, as well as more than 400 magazines and newsletters.
