Pilatus PC-21. No. 1 Flying Training School ( No. 1 FTS) is a school of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). It is one of the Air Force's original units, dating back to the service's formation in 1921, when it was established at RAAF Point Cook, Victoria. By the early 1930s, the school comprised training, fighter, and seaplane components.
On 1 September 1947, the aerodrome officially became RCAF Station Centralia and the No. 1 FTS was re-activated. No. 1's first course consisted of fifteen students who trained in the school's ten Harvards. These pilots were to be the first to receive their wings in the post-war period. 1948 was a year of change at Centralia.
