IAN MCCRORIE, who has died aged 78, is not in Wikipedia’s list of famous people from Greenock, but it cannot be disputed he gave more to the town than many who are on the list ever did. He spent most of his life in and around Greenock Academy.
Jun 15, 2012 · Ian’s father taught Primary 7 at Greenock Academy until 1951. Ian was a pupil there from 1946 till 1959 (in the Nelson Street building) in both primary and secondary departments. He was Head Boy of the school in session 1958-59.
