Jun 11, 2018 · Muscles tight, and bones creaking in the cold, you begin your hike - a seven-mile trek up to the Blue Mountain Peak. The peak is the highest on the island, rising to an altitude of 7,402 feet. In the darkness you climb steadily for four hours.
Check out this 10.2-mile out-and-back trail near Penlyne Castle, Saint Thomas. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 7 h 1 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Preview trail.

Blue Mountain Peak. A hike up Jamaica’s tallest peak (7,200 feet) should be on everyone’s agenda if at all possible. The trail is relatively well-marked but all in all if you are new to Jamaica or to this hike, you might consider a guide.

Hiking the trails to Blue Mountain Peak can be done from either the south side of the Island from Kingston or the north side from Port Antonio although entering the mountains from Kingston is much more common.
