Sniff 'n' the Tears was formed through the partnership of Luigi Salvoni and myself in 1978. Lou and some of his band, Moon, had played on some demos for me a year or so earlier. He took these demos to Ted Carroll at Chiswick Records and we were given the go ahead to make an album.
However, that band broke up and, at the suggestion of drummer Luigi Salvoni, Roberts reformed it as Sniff 'n' the Tears with guitarists Laurence "Loz" Netto and Mick Dyche, and bassist Chris Birkin. They shopped the demo tape and signed with the London indie label Chiswick in 1977.
Jan 3, 2019 · Mick Dyche guitarist with Sniff'n'the Tears from 1978 to 1980 has died. Guitarist with the band for "Fickle Heart" and "The Game's Up" from 1978 to 1980. Mick was a distinctive and thoughtful guitarist, who with Loz Netto provided the guitar interplay on those albums.
Sniff 'n The Tears initially materialized as a six piece outfit: Besides Roberts and Salvoni, the other original core members were Loz Netto (guitars), Mike Dyche (guitars), Chris Birkin (bass), and Alan Faeldman (keyboards). The group released their debut album "Fickle Heart" in 1979.
