It is famous for its stunning views of the Bay Area, its unique bohemian culture, and its vibrant arts scene.

To be honest, one of the best things to do in Sausalito begins before you even arrive: as most people arrive in Sausalito by ferry (or depart that way if they choose to ride bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge to reach Sausalito), admiring the picturesque views of the city as the boat pulls up is a must-do.

- Enjoy Some Sweets at the Sausalito Bakery & Cafe. Grab a pick-me-up and some delicious baked goods from the Sausalito Bakery & Cafe. You can either sit outside and enjoy the views of the Bay or take it on the go as you browse the local nearby shops.
- Shopping Sausalito Downtown. Downtown Sausalito is so dang so cute and charming! Here you can winding streets with boutiques, nautical shops, crafts, clothing and more!
- Ice Cream at Lappert’ss. Lappert’s Ice Cream is the most popular ice cream shop in town and it’s probably due to their unique flavors (like Ube!) Grab a cone and take a stroll along the docks while looking at sailboats.
- Look At Houseboats. On the note of sailboats, I love these little floating homes and sailboats. (They are the most popular free Sausalito attractions!)
- Hiking in Marin Headlands. I adore the Marin Headlands! If you love nature, hit the trails! A lot of California visitors want to do a day trip to Muir Woods and you *may* be tempted to do one during your Sausalito visit, but save Muir Woods national monument for another time.

Mar 27, 2024 · In my opinion, Sausalito is one of the prettiest towns in the Bay Area. The area gets pretty busy, but for good reason. Here you’ll find waterfront restaurants (with fresh seafood), cute nautical themed shops, and the popular ice cream shop, Lapperts.
