On May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary and his sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first people to climb Mount Everest. “Well, George, we knocked the bastard off.” These were the words spoken by Sir Edmund Hillary to George Lowe after he and his sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first men to summit Mount Everest.
