This exhibition includes 54 watercolors and paper dolls from the Fitzgerald estate, some illustrative of their fast-paced life and others drawn from well-known literature.

According to An Illustrated Life (1996), soon after Zelda’s death in 1948, the Sayre family cleaned out her studio and held a lawn sale where art dealer Louise Brooks discovered a three-foot stack of Fitzgerald’s oil paintings.
Although best known as the beautiful and flamboyant wife of writer F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda Fitzgerald was quite an accomplished artist in her own right. Her creative endeavors in writing, dancing, doll crafting and painting were highly successful yet overshadowed by her husband’s work.
May 31, 2023 · The Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald Museum is proud to announce the discovery and exhibition of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald’s “White Roses.” The painting has been considered for decades as one of her “lost” oil paintings and is one of her few known extant oil paintings from the 1930s.
