Columbia TriStar Television was officially incorporated on July 12, 1996. On New Year's Day 2001, CTT folded CPT in a failed attempt to become a network television syndication division called Columbia TriStar Network Television.

Both studios still produced its series independently, but in 1999, TriStar Television was folded into CTT before The Nanny and Mad About You ended on CBS & NBC, but kept its name in credit until 2000 on Early Edition.
