  5. Hancock Field. The 174th Attack Wing primarily performs the Remotely Piloted Aircraft mission. This involves a variety of operations, including close air support, air interdiction, intelligence collection and quick strike capabilities with minimal danger to military personnel.

  6. The 174th Attack Wing (174 ATKW) is a unit of the New York Air National Guard, stationed at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, Syracuse, New York. The 174th is equipped with the MQ-9 Reaper. If activated to federal service, the Wing is gained by the United States Air Force Air Combat Command.

  7. The results were so successful that air defense became a permanent mission for the Air National Guard and continues today. The active duty Air Force exercised a right to return to Hancock Field and activated the 4624th Air Base Squadron under the Air Defense Command (ADC).
