    • Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Carmel-by-the-Sea is constantly hailed as California’s most adorable town. Loaded with European fairytale charm complete with cosy cottages and delicate tilework, it’s hard not to fall head over heels for this place.
    • Nantucket, Massachusetts. Nantucket is literally the definition of classic New England island. With its lovely cobblestoned streets, dune-loaded beaches and beautiful architecture, it’s certainly got a lot to brag about.
    • Narragansett, Rhode Island. Narragansett is the total package. It’s got incredible surf, some of the best beach bars on the East Coast, loads of history and, dare we say, the best seafood in New England.
    • Cape May, New Jersey. Home to the nation’s oldest seaside resort and the largest collection of preserved Victorian buildings outside San Fran, you can’t go wrong with a stay in Cape May.

    • Polperro, England. You wouldn’t know at first glance, but this idyllic town in Cornwall has a scandalous past. In the 18th century, Polperro’s secluded coastline was a frequent entry point for smugglers, who brought in alcohol, tobacco, and other contraband.
    • Saint George’s, Bermuda. Formally known as The Town of Saint George, this Bermuda community dates back to the early 17th century. Today, you can visit St. Peter’s, the oldest Anglican church in the Western Hemisphere, built in 1612, and the Unfinished Church, with its majestic stone arches.
    • Manarola, Italy. Italy has no shortage of pretty coastal towns, but we’re partial to Manarola. The tiny Cinque Terre village dates back to the Middle Ages and consists of a jumble of bright cliffside homes overlooking the sea.
    • Camden, Maine. If you were asked to picture a quintessential New England coastal town, chances are you’d envision Camden. The former manufacturing village occupies the green shores of Penobscot Bay, near the base of Mount Battie.
