Maria Ramirez was born in 1921 in Puerto Rico. She married Edward Preutzel, a Lutheran German immigrant. They had one son, Freddie Prinze. After Freddy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, Prinze's she wrote a book about her son, The Freddie Prinze Story. She died in 2013.
