The Petersen Events Center (more commonly known as "The Pete") is a 12,508-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the Oakland neighborhood. The arena is named for philanthropists John Petersen and his wife Gertrude, who donated $10 million for its construction.
The Petersen Events Center is located at 3719 Terrace Street in the heart of Oakland. Situated on the upper campus, next to Trees Hall, Fitzgerald Field House, and the Cost Center, the Petersen Events Center's main lobby entrance is located on Terrace Street in between Darragh and DeSoto Streets.
Opened in 2002, the 12,508-seat basketball and multi-purpose Petersen Events Center serves as the home for the men's and women's basketball programs, as well as numerous campus events, graduation ceremonies, concerts and modern recreational and fitness facilities.
