Eastern Orthodox Church. Audomar (died c. 670), better known as Omer, was a bishop of Thérouanne, after whom nearby Saint-Omer in northern France was named. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches.

In the 7th century, probably around 639, Saint Audomar (Saint Omer) established the bishopric of Terwaan or Terenburg in Thérouanne. Thanks to that ecclesiastical control of some of the most prosperous cities north of the Alps, like Arras and Ypres, the bishopric was able to build a cathedral which was at the time the largest in France.

Othmar (AUDOMAR), Saint, d. November 16, 759, on the island of Werd in the Rhine, near Eschnez, Switzerland. He was of Alemannic descent, received his education in Rhaetia, was ordained priest, and for a time presided over a church of St. Florinus in Rhaetia.
Audomar (Audomarus), connu plus tard sous le nom de saint Omer, vécut de 600 à 667 [1]. Il est nommé évêque de Thérouanne par le roi Dagobert I er et fonde la ville de Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais). C'est lui qui consacra prêtre saint Wandrille. C’est un saint chrétien fêté le 9 septembre [2].
