The popular gameshow The Price is Right, once hosted by Bob Barker and more recently by Drew Carey, began playing on network television in its current form in 1972. It's a bona fide, multi-generational mega-hit, and America's longest-running television program of its kind. Not surprisingly, such popularity has segued the gameshow into videogames over the years, and now, we have our latest iteration.

A version has recently come to the PlayStation Network, and I've had a chance to sit down and play it extensively. Believe it or not, before I was tasked to write this review, I had already purchased the game on my own dime. My girlfriend and I had another couple over for dinner and drinks, and we were looking for something to occupy ourselves with post-meal. We threw around the usual ideas -- Risk? Nah, too deep. Monopoly? Eh, we got way into that last time, and it took all night. Trivial Pursuit on PlayStation 3 was at work, and my roommate only has Rock Band for Xbox 360. Then it came to me; why not download The Price is Right on PSN? It just came out. I wonder if it's any good?

Well, I can unequivocally answer that question for you. It isn't. The Price is Right on PSN is almost the anti-good. There's very little to say about the game that's positive. It's a clunky, slow, ugly and boring version of something that's otherwise classic and iconic, and that's truly a shame. I was skeptical about its $10 price point, but kept an open mind. But the game isn't worth $10. Not even remotely. In fact, it's not worth your time, much less your money.

I can go on and on about why this game isn't worth your time or money, but I think you get the idea. There's limited game modes and no online play (which is utterly ridiculous in its own right). The game froze on me when I attempted to skip one of the tutorials which, by the way, ensue each time you play the game, without fail. And though there are...

  7. The Price Is Right has long been a staple of daytime and nighttime television. It has seen five incarnations: the 1956-1965 daytime version hosted by Bill Cullen on NBC and ABC, the 1972-1980 nighttime version hosted by Dennis James and Bob Barker, the 1985 nighttime version hosted by Tom Kennedy, the 1994-1995 nighttime version hosted by Doug ...

  8. From the Bob Barker Studio at CBS in Hollywood, television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes. The fabulous 60 minute Price is Right. The full opening was really fulfilling and enjoyable and really got me in the mood for the day's show. There's been some improvement but there's room for more.
