2040 Comprehensive Plan & Land Use Map. Village of Sussex completed its Comprehensive Plan on May 22, 2018. There were numerous public meetings and citizen input gathering sessions to complete the plan. The Comprehensive Plan guides the Village's development of the Community.

The Plan Commission was founded in 1924 and its powers come from Wis. Stats. 62.23 and section 1.06 of the Sussex Municipal Code. The Plan Commission’s powers are derived from the Village Board, but it is responsible to exercise objective judgement on many matters. The Plan Commission’s actions include both legislative and judicial procedures.
The Plan Commission works with many plans and standards including: the Comprehensive Plan; Land Use Plan; Zoning Map; Ordinance Chapters 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18; Design Standards; area plans, i.e. Downtown Development and Design Plan, STH 164 Plan, Trails and Sidewalks Plan and Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.
