Allen Kenneth Johnson (born March 1, 1971) is an American former hurdling athlete who won the gold medal in the 110 metre hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a four-time world champion.
Ranked No. 1 by Track & Field News for four years, Johnson ran a record 11 races under 13 seconds. While competing collegiately for the University of North Carolina, he won the 1992 NCAA Championship in the 55mH in a meet-record of 7.07.
Johnson became the greatest hurdler in World Championships history on August 30, 2003 in Paris, leading Team USA to a 1-2-4-5 finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2003 IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It was his record 4th world crown in the hurdles, leading virtually from start to finish, crossing the finish line in 13.12.
Allen Johnson, a three-time Olympian and 1996 Olympic gold medalist, became the director of North Carolina A&T's six track and field programs on June 17, 2022. He will be responsible for directing men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor track and field and men's and women's outdoor track and field at A&T.
