The 2002 version of Stephen King's "Carrie" is a lot better than it could've been. It was already fighting an uphill battle trying to recapture the same tense and gloriously haunting magic the 1976 movie did. Weak performances and cheesy dialogue by many of the actors doesn't help the situation.

Mar 11, 2022 · “Carrie ’02” requires some forgiveness for its low budget. The special effects of the rain of rocks (taken from the novel) early in the film are bad, but the post-prank action is good.
The film was criticized for its poor special effects, lack of a horror atmosphere, and long runtime, however, the performances from the cast, particularly Bettis and Patricia Clarkson, were heavily praised. Plot. Police interview several people, including high school student Sue Snell and gym teacher Ms Desjarden.
