Since 2016 the program has continued to grow throughout the state. As of 2023 FARMacy WV is located at 30 locations in 24 counties. Chef Gene Evans from WVNCC, Chef Ryan Butler from the Wheeling Brewing Company, and Chef Rocco Basil from the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston will square off during this first-ever event to decide, once and for all, who the best of the best chefs is.
Evans was born in Holbrook, Arizona and raised in Colton, California. Right after finishing high school, he began performing in summer stock at the Penthouse Theatre in Altadena, California. [1] Evans served in the United States Army during World War II and achieved the rank of sergeant. [2] He performed with a theatrical troupe of GIs in Europe.
