Clarence Benjamin Jones (born January 8, 1931) is an American lawyer and the former personal counsel, advisor, draft speech writer and close friend of Martin Luther King Jr. He is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.
Clarence Jones’s two sons have traveled different paths and had successful careers. Clarence Jr., born December 2, 1965, in Orange County, California, played basketball for Oral Roberts University (1983-86) and Hawaii Pacific University (1986-88), earning first-team all-conference honors at both schools.
