Feb 11, 2024 · Wolverine's return in Deadpool 3 won't undo or diminish the perfect ending of Logan. With all of the hype surrounding Wolverine's arrival in Deadpool & Wolverine, it can be easy to forget that he died in Logan, which begs the question of how he can return. Deadpool 3 is set to release on July 26 and will be the only MCU movie of 2024.

Ryan Reynolds has always hated his first appearance as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And while he got plenty of jabs at it in the first Deadpool movie, it wasn't until Deadpool 2 that Reynolds was able to finally terminate the mistakes of that movie. Literally.
During one of Deadpool 2's end credits scenes, Deadpool disrupts the finale of X-Men Origins: Wolverine to kill that movie's bastardized version of Wade Wilson himself.
In a separate interview with us, Deadpool 2 co-screenwriter Paul Wernick said the Wolverine scene is the actual footage of Hugh Jackman from X-Men Origins and that the actor -- who retired from the role in 2017's Logan -- was not brought back to reenact the scene for Deadpool 2. The use of the footage also received the blessing of movie studio 20th Century Fox.
As Wernick's screenwriting partner Rhett Reese explained during that same interview, "Hugh Jackman was very supportive. We needed his permission. But he and Ryan are frenemies, you know, online, and in the public. But they’re actually good friends, and he was very supportive, so that was awesome."
Apr 22, 2024 · To viewers' surprise, Deadpool finds Wolverine depressed and drunk, indicating that he is a very different version of the character than the one seen in previous X-Men movies. In the trailer, Deadpool indicates that Wolverine could not save his universe from some unspecified threat, but offers him a chance to finally redeem himself.
