Octalus is the main antagonist of the 1998 horror film Deep Rising. It is a huge sea creature of unknown origin which eats nearly every passenger and crew member on the luxury cruise ship Argonautica, on which the film mostly takes place.
Oct 10, 2012 · The creature in Deep Rising is a giant mutant octopus. If you watch the scene in the gallery, Treat Williams actually tells a story about putting a fish in a jar then closing the lid, giving it to an octopus which was able to open the jar and climb in and consume the fish.
The creatures smash through the main deck and are revealed to be tentacles of a vast deep-sea monster—the Octalus—rather than individual entities. The Octalus grabs hold of Finnegan, who shoots it in the eye, blinding it and freeing himself, and he and Trillian escape on the jet ski.

The Octalus is a massive multi-tentacled monster that resembles an octopus. One such creature attacked the cruise ship Argonautica. The ship had become infested by, what the passengers thought, creatures that resembled giant worms that swallowed and digested their prey alive.
