Fredric Jameson (born April 14, 1934) is an American literary critic, philosopher and Marxist political theorist. He is best known for his analysis of contemporary cultural trends, particularly his analysis of postmodernity and capitalism.
Overview. Fredric Jameson is currently Professor of Comparative Literature, Professor of Romance Studies (French), and Director of the Institute for Critical Theory. He received his Ph.D. from Yale in 1959 and taught at Harvard, Yale, and the University of California before coming to Duke in 1985.
