FuncoLand was significant because it was the first large-scale multi-store business where you could sell games you no longer wanted to play and buying used copies of games was about half the price of what a new copy of the game would cost.
Funcoland, Software Etc, Babbage's, and some of Egghead Software's retail locations all got consolidated into Gamestop. Most Gamestops kept the Funcoland 8 and 16 bit inventory until it sold through, eventually discontinuing the older systems and folding the more recent ones into Gamestop's usual used business.
