Today, Grapevine Canyon provides a fun off-road trail either on its own or as a leg of an overland expedition through the desert Southwest. The trail also serves as a great entrance route into Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, starting from S-22 outside Anza-Borrego and descending into the heart of the park near Tamarisk Grove Campground.

Nov 23, 2015 · The Grapevine Canyon trail is a historic route that runs between the Volcan Mountains and the Grapevine Hills into the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in southern California. The trail was once a main thoroughfare into Borrego Valley for horses and wagons in the days before Highway 78 and County Roads S-3 and S-22 were built.
A nice loop on the North side of the Grapevine canyon. The wash has sand but you encounter stretches with small boulders. In a small canyon on the right, cross over to the return canyon.
