Jul 27, 2020 · Coach Deane was Head Basketball coach at VSU 1969– 1979 and 1987-1994. His led his team to the Central Intercollegiate Association (CIAA) championship in 1988. He was selected as conference Coach of the Year four times.
Harold Deane, a Roanoke, V.A. native, was a two sport athlete in basketball, and outdoor track and field. As a student-athlete at Virginia State University, Deane was a three year starter for the men's basketball team and also made the CIAA All-Tournament team.
