He was the co-founder, lead singer, and lyricist of the rock band INXS from 1977 until his death in 1997. The band sold over 50 million records worldwide and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2001.

    • Michael’s family was surprised he wanted to be a frontman because he was so introverted. Tina Hutchence, Michael’s half-sister, recalls a time when she was managing the kids’ wear section of a department store and needed Michael and his brother to participate in a fashion show.
