Jun 16, 2023 · Originally known as Little Rock High School, the building was completed in 1927, replacing the outgrown all-white high school located at 14 th and Cumberland streets. Classes for African-Americans were held at Dunbar High School, constructed in 1929 a few blocks away.
Today, you can learn more about the Little Rock Nine across the street at the visitor center and museum, which offers ranger-led tours of the still-functioning school. It is the only operating high school located within the boundaries of a National Historic Site.
