Maurice Bernard Sendak (/ ˈ s ɛ n d æ k /; June 10, 1928 – May 8, 2012) was an American author and illustrator of children's books. He became most widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are , first published in 1963. [2]
Biography. Maurice Sendak (1928-2012) was born on June 10, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, to Jewish immigrant parents from Poland. A largely self-taught artist, Sendak illustrated over one hundred books during his sixty-year career.
