My Summer Story (originally released in theaters as It Runs in the Family) is a 1994 American comedy film directed by Bob Clark that serves as a sequel to his 1983 film A Christmas Story. Like the previous film, it is based on semi-autobiographical stories by Jean Shepherd , primarily from his book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash .
A sequel to A Christmas Story (1983), this movie follows the Parker family's adventures in summer 1941 Indiana. Ralphie seeks a perfect top, Mrs Parker collects china, and the Old Man faces the Bumpuses.
Mar 22, 2016 · All in all though it was an enjoyable movie – recommended for fans of the original or anything Jean Shepherd. **EDIT 1/25/19 - just wanted to update my review - I just purchased the Olive Films Blu-Ray and it's a noticeable improvement, however the opening credits have the movie title as "It Runs In The Family" and not "My Summer Story".
