Patrick Burke is an associate professor of music at Washington University in St. Louis. He is the author of Come In and Hear the Truth: Jazz and Race on 52nd Street (University of Chicago Press).
Aug 30, 2021 · I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new Chair of the Department of Music. I have been a professor of ethnomusicology at Wash U since 2004. My research and teaching centers on music in the twentieth-century United States, particularly rock and jazz, as well as music’s role in racial politics.
