  3. Dec 22, 2021 · The Plains of Abraham is a high alpine bench on the east side of Mount Saint Helens. The area is not within the blast zone itself although it was greatly affected by pyroclastic flows from the 1980 eruption. Even before the eruption, the Plains of Abraham was a sere landscape crossed by rocky stream beds carrying melt from snowfields and glaciers.

  5. Experience this 13.5-km circular trail near Cougar, Washington. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This trail is great for hiking and mountain biking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through November.
