Sometimes you gotta' just bite the bullet and go for it, and eating a sandwich in a can is one of those times. As much as the idea of saucy canned chicken made my stomach scream for mercy, I'd make it my first Candwich experience. If you order up a Candwich expecting a bread-hugged treat inside an authentic aluminum can, prepare to be disappointed....
The only thing left to do after taking photos of your BBQ chicken Candwich for posterity is take a chomp out of that sucker ... quickly, before you chicken (pun intended) out. Kirkland had suggested heating it up in the microwave or on the dashboard of a car, but that would have provided too much time and temptation to run far, far away, so I ate i...
In quickly whipping up some samples for our test, Kirkland said that the bread for the peanut butter and honey was not shelf stable. I was traveling when it first arrived and wasn't really all that eager to make a meal of Candwiches when I got back, so a week and a half raced by before I was able to sit down and get eating. That, plus the fact that...
When you're eating something like room temperature chicken in a can, it's impossible not to think that you're going to be spending the rest of the day in the toilet, if not the hospital. Or at least it is for me. But, it's now been a few days, and I can happily report that I had no unusual stomach issues and everything remained quite regular.
So, the big question: Would I buy a Candwich in the future, on purpose, with my own money and everything? It's always one thing to try something as a free sample, but actually buying it is another completely. My short answer: yes and no. Candwich advertises a shelf life of around one year, which seems woefully inadequate for one of the first uses I...

Food52As wonderfully decadently delicious as a fried egg, american cheese & bacon sandwich on a kaiser roll is, I would not survive having one for breakfast everyday. Both my husband and I are savory breakfast types, and we have been trying to spend less and eat better...picking up a bagel at Starbucks( me) or an Crosisan'wich (him) wasn't helping our waists or our wallets. We needed a solution...and this was it. I make a dozen egg sandwiches at a time, wrap them tightly and individually and take one for each of us out of the freezer at night and by the time we get to work they are easily reheated in a toaster oven. I find it less time consuming to bake the eggs, but you can also fry them if I had a griddle I would probably fry them over medium 6 at a time, but I don't, so I bake them with cream cheese which makes them creamy rather than rubbery. This takes awhile, I reserve some time on Sunday afternoon to put it together, you can use other ingredients- I make 6 Ham & Cheese and 6 Kale & Cheese, but you could easily do both or neither - Mushrooms would work too, so would pre-cooked bacon (of any variety), sundried tomatoes would be good or sub spinach for the kale. I like the creamy blandness of muenster cheese but any cheese would do...cheddar, swiss and if you can afford the calories..brie. But I find these combinations tasty and energizing, there's enough fat to make it yummy but not so much as to weigh you down. And they definitely keep you satisfied until lunch, esp when eaten along side a piece of fruit. I'd stay from Avocado since I don't like it reheated, but I have slipped a few fresh slices in after heating (esp the kale ones)- You can easily make more of these at a time...especially if you have a bigger family or a bigger freezer.YummlyNot a bad sandwich, but, growing up in Tampa's Ybor City, I can tell you that this is not even remotely a Cuban Sandwich.YummlyThis Amsterdam Sandwich is a traditional dish cooked in the province of Amsterdam but it does not mean we can't have Amsterdam in our backyards.
