Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is a rail line and bicycle-pedestrian pathway project in Sonoma and Marin counties of the U.S. state of California. When completed, the entire system will serve a 70-mile (110 km) corridor between Cloverdale in northern Sonoma County and Larkspur Landing in Marin County.
SMART train schedules are available on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Weekday schedules are broken down into Northbound and Southbound, with AM and PM schedules for each direction. The combined Weekend and Holiday schedules follow the same format.
Trains run from shortly after 4 a.m. to about 10 p.m.; check the online schedule for details. All this makes for the perfect way to explore central Sonoma County sans automobile. Every two-car SMART train holds up to 158 seated passengers, 160 standing passengers, and 24 bicycles.
