Take Shelter is a 2011 American psychological thriller film starring Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. It follows a man who has apocalyptic visions and builds a storm shelter for his family, but may have paranoid schizophrenia.
Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, a young husband and father questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself. Curtis, a father and husband, is starting to experience bad dreams and hallucinations. Assuming mental illness, he seeks medical help and counseling.
Rather than confiding in Samantha, he begins building a storm shelter in the backyard, and his strange behavior causes tension in their marriage and the surrounding community.
