The Maxx is an American comic book series created by Sam Kieth in 1993 and originally published monthly until 1998 by Image Comics for 35 issues, before being collected in trade paperback by DC Comics' Wildstorm imprint.
The Maxx is a comic book and animated series written and illustrated by Sam Kieth (with writing assistance from William Messner-Loebs earlier on in the series and from Alan Moore in a later issue), and published by Image Comics. The first issue was published in March, 1993.
The Maxx is the titular protagonist of the comic book series and the MTV animated series of the same name. He is a mysterious, foul smelling, cartoon loving, Pez eating, and self appointed hero to Julie Winters, a freelance social worker who often bails him out of jail.
