Timothy Granaderos: I would say it's fun in a way, because it's so far from who I am. It's always fun to explore a different personality, but at the same time it's challenging because this guys is such an a-hole, but you have to find out what makes him who he is and I think you see that in season 3 quite a bit.

TG:I made playlists that are super aggressive emo kind of music that get me into that mindset. And then on days where I have scenes that are a little more intense, I'll just put in headphones and people know not to get into my space. Sometimes they forget and it's funny because I'm a very gregarious, social person. So I walk onto set and I'm a litt...

TG: I think there's some Rage Against the Machine. There's some Kanye, some Eminem. It's that kind of aggressive, break a table kind of music.

TG: Honestly, a lot of people didn't know until we were at the table read. So, it was funny to see the reaction cause it was a secret that I kept for a long time and I'm really close with all my co-stars, but just they were just shocked really.

TG: I definitely think that he is a product of his environment and his home life. His relationship with his father really plays into that. Maybe he would've been more open to his sexuality or exploring had he had a loving family like Tony's. It's pretty sad because it's a specific story, but this happens in households all over the world. And you he...

TG:It was sad! People did say [that Monty deserved it], but I was just hoping it was honest. It was never a redemption arc, it was more so to humanize him in ways and say, 'yeah, he did horrible things, but maybe, the circumstances of his past, and his family life, affected that.' But yeah, [fans] were sad which was kind of a relief in a lot of way...

TG: My hope for him was that he continued to grow and explore his vulnerabilities and allow himself to just be open to becoming the person that he was meant to be. And I think he's so consumed with sports and the toxicity of his home life and I hoped that with the help of Winston that he would continue to grow.

The actor who played Monty, a controversial character in the Netflix series, reveals how he prepared for his role, what he thought of his fate, and how he explored his sexuality. He also shares his reaction to fan responses and his co-stars' reactions to his shocking exit.
