Jun 21, 2024 · We primarily make grants to 501 (c) (3) public charities. We also make grants to support organizations or projects that work with qualifying fiscal sponsors. We do not make grants to individuals or for scholarships. It is also rare for United Way of Rhode Island to fund capital projects.
As a nonprofit, you’re a central partner of United Way in working for community change. We support nonprofits’ work with resources including volunteers, advocacy and—where strategies align—funding.
Powered by United Way’s Community Impact Fund, approximately $6M will be allocated for multi-year programs for funding in 2025. Agencies will have the option of selecting multi-year funding for 2-years, 3-years, or 5-years, with an understanding that 5-year program grants can re-apply for only a 2-year grant.
United Way runs a competitive application process to fund high quality programs from agencies that serve people in the Chicago region.
