History of Wayne. Wayne Museum Website. The recorded history of Wayne Township began in 1947 during the centennial celebration of its organization, which occurred at the Casey House on Hamburg Turnpike, April 12, 1847.

Wayne, township (town), Passaic county, northern New Jersey, U.S., 6 miles (10 km) west of Paterson, New Jersey. The site, first settled in 1695, was originally part of New Barbadoes township in Essex county, which was later incorporated into Bergen county.

Located on its original site, the museum represents the agricultural society that dominated present-day Wayne for over 200 years. Today, the farmstead also features the Meade Van-Duyne House, built in the mid-18th century on land acquired by John Mead, a weaver, in 1707.
