Mar 30, 2024 · We Were the Lucky Ones follows the story of the Kurcs, a Polish Jewish family living in Radom. Addy, the middle son of the family, is working as a composer and living in Paris. His mother and father, Nechuma and Sol, live in Poland with Addy's other siblings, Genek, Jakob, Halina, and Mila.
Plot summary. Prior to World War II, the Kurc family, Polish Jews, lived successful and relatively peaceful lives in Radom. Their success protected them from some of the virulent anti-semitism in the country. Their protection does not last as Hitler 's persecution of European Jewry intensified.
We Were the Lucky Ones, written by Georgia Hunter and published in 2017, is a historical novel based on the actual experiences of the author’s family during World War II.
