Giuseppe Rinaldi, one of the most respected and outspoken Barolo producers, passed away in 2018 at the age of 70. He was known for his austere yet elegant style, his scepticism about MGA and his criticism of rising land prices in the Langhe region.
Born in Rome, Rinaldi appeared in more than 20 films between 1939 and 1982. During his time, he was considered to be one of the greatest dubbers in Italy. He provided the Italian voices of Marlon Brando, Jack Lemmon, Rock Hudson, Paul Newman, Van Johnson and James Dean.
It'll need a few minutes in the glass but then this stunning wine takes flight, revealing enticing scents of wild berries, violet and camphor. The palate is still youthfully austere, delivering red cherry, blood orange, licorice and dark baking spice and a hint of tobacco set against firm but well integrated tannins.
