Oct 5, 2004 · Janet Leigh, who starred in one of the most famous scenes in movie history, is dead at 77. Miss Leigh, a top Hollywood star in the 1950s and 1960s and an intelligent and funny woman offscreen, "died peacefully at her home" on Sunday afternoon, a family spokeswoman said.
Though Janet Leigh appeared in more than 60 motion pictures, she is best remembered for her role as the screaming blonde beauty knifed to death in the shower at the Bates Motel in the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Psycho.
