Aug 10, 2018 · Regrettably, popularity does not equate to quality as evidenced by 1998’s Shadow Builder. Shadow Builder is based on a short story by Stoker. Starring Michael Rooker of Guardians of the Galaxy fame, the movie is the story of an evil force unknowingly let loose on the world by an evil Archbishop.
A cult of followers of the evil Shadowbuilder summons the demon using the picture of the son of the scumbag Vic Lambert (Eric Murphy). The group is surprised by Father Vassey (Michael Rooker) that kills the followers but Shadowbuilder escapes to Grand River, a town that will experience an eclipse on the next day.
An evil Archbishop and his followers summon a demon to destroy the world, but the demon's first act is to kill its summoners. It does so in an appropriately unique manner, by turning the bodies of its victims into what appears to be solid shadow, which disintegrates at the first touch of light, any light. Light is in fact the demon's anathema.
