COOPER, ROY DALE (1955– ). Born on November 13, 1955, in Hobbs, New Mexico, rodeo champion Roy Dale Cooper was the son of rancher and champion roper Dale "Tuffy" Cooper and Betty Rose Hadley Cooper, who had been raised on a ranch near Indiahoma, Oklahoma.
Roy Dale Cooper (born November 13, 1955) is an American former professional rodeo cowboy who competed in Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) events for more than two decades. He won the All-Around Cowboy world championship in 1983 and claimed seven individual discipline championships, including six tie-down roping titles.
Roy had the honor of winning Calgary, Pendleton, and Cheyenne in the same year. He was also the PRCA Rookie of the Year and World Champion in 1976. Roy holds 8 World Championships which include Tie-down roping in 1976, 1980-84, and steer roping and all-around in 1983.
