Jul 15, 2019 · It seems that the gold rushes on every country produced a number of ghost mining towns, when the mines that supported said towns produced no more ore, or it was too expensive to continue mining. My question is probably obvious, but I'm really surprised that towns in the thousands (or dozens of thousands, even) just disappeared when the miners left.
