Worth The Hike. Jun 2020. We did the 3-mile round trip hike of Prospect Mountain and followed the red markers. Though the trail was steep and challenging at times, it was so worth the reward of a panoramic view of Lake George once you reach the top. Bring hiking sticks, lots of water and bug repellant.

Take in the spectacular 360 degree, 100-mile view from the 2,030-foot summit of Prospect Mountain. A beautiful 5.5 mile, two-lane highway leads to parking lots at each of the three vistas along the highway - The Narrows, Lake George, and the Eagle's Nest.
Prospect Mountain is a little-known hiking destination traversed by the 165-mile Cohos Trail. Although unattractive itself, a clearing at the top yields a wonderful lake and mountain vista. From the small parking spot, walk back down the road to the fork, and proceed up the other fork to a hidden trail sign on the right side.
